Two sculpture exhibitions were unveiled on March 27, namely, "Times Dignity-Hua Tianyou Donation Exhibition" and "Episode Diary-Sun Jiabo Sculpture Exhibition". And they will be on display at the National Art Museum of China until April 5.
The family members of Hua Tianyou have donated 23 pieces of works to the museum. His exhibition showcases important works all his life and some precious history pictures.
Born in Huaiyin in southeast China's Jiangsu Province, Hua Tianyou (1901-1986) was devoted to sculpture creation after graduated from the Paris Art College. He made a great contribution to creating the mixed style through combining Chinese concepts with Western skills. He was the first director of the sculpture major in Central Academy of Fine Arts. His works was honored in the French Spring Salon Exhibition for several times and some have been collected by the Paris municipality and the National Contemporary Art Museum of France.
Sun Jiabo, an outstanding sculpturer, was once taught by Hua Tianyou and has been a teacher and the first doctoral tutor in the sculpture major in Central Academy of Fine Arts. He has made unremitting efforts in the sculpture field especially the traditional wood sculpture.
